As the Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer (DLCPO) I am actively involved in middle management, procedural compliance, program implementation, personnel development, and long- and short-term planning. Supervised a group of seven supervisors and a department of twenty personnel in doctrine, tactics and techniques on Naval Surface Fire Support ensuring zero safety accidents occurred.
Strike Officer/Combat Systems Leading Chief Petty Officer (Mar 2015-Mar 2018)
As Combat Systems Department Leading Chief Petty Officer (DLCPO), supervised two watch teams of more than 20 personnel in direct support of Fleet Operations for all operational military units in the Mediterranean Sea and Persian Gulf. Supervised an office of 6 personnel in support of shipboard Weapons and Combat Systems of Six Guided Missile Destroyers and reported all information directly to the Commander of Destroyer Squadron Two with 100% accuracy. Played an active role in briefing the Admiral of Carrier Strike Group 12 (CCSG-12) and staff in the daily and weekly STRIKE operations of the Sixth Fleet Operational Area. Trained more than 150 personnel in supervisory positions as a member of the executive staff in my tenure. In this position, I was also selected to ride various Firing Units (FRUs) in order to better train and prepare their deployed teams for their upcoming participation in Fifth and Sixth fleet real world mission tasking. This helped the US Navy as a whole to ensure maximum fleet readiness and proficiency to the standards that were required while deployed.
Leading Chief Petty Officer USS Nitze DDG-94 (Dec 2009-Mar2015)
Specialized training in the Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System (TTWCS). Also taught the basic tactics in STRIKE operations to over 13 TTWCS Technicians during by 60 Months onboard. Identified problems, troubleshoot them, and ultimately repaired them. Lastly, learned and taught my team how to properly perform preventative maintenance on all components of the TTWCS systems. Managed and supervised twenty to twenty-five TTWCS and Vertical Launching System (VLS) Technicians in all aspects of maintenance, training, and military duties aboard a US Navy warship. Conducted daily business such as scheduling maintenance tasks in a timely manner, generating weekly maintenance reports, creating work task items for equipment status and parts procurement, and managed division manpower in support of daily shipboard operations inside and outside of the division. Oversaw all casualties within the TTWCS and VLS systems then guided and measured the system technicians’ abilities to correct the casualties, providing support as needed.
Managed a team of 12 instructors in a 16-week course covering mission planning, missile management, and maintenance of the Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System. Trained and graded newly hired employees in their abilities to troubleshooting electrical equipment to correctly identify issues within the equipment ensuring 100% operability of the Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System. Trained and mentored junior instructors on qualifying for their Master Training Specialist certifications. Earned consistent commendations for devotion to duty with citations for excellence in rapidly resolving equipment issues and crisis situations.
TTWCS Workcenter Supervisor USS Leyte Gulf CG-55 (Apr 2001-Feb 2006)
As the work-center supervisor for the TTWCS system, I led seven junior sailors by coordinating, planning, and executing all scheduled and corrective maintenance. Performed regular hardware and software updates to the TTWCS. Conducted daily business such as scheduling maintenance tasks in a timely manner, generating weekly maintenance reports, creating work task items for equipment status and parts procurement, and managing division manpower in support of daily shipboard operations inside and outside of the division. Oversaw and was actively involved in all casualty repair efforts within the TTWCS and VLS while assisting, guiding, and measuring system technicians’ abilities to correct the casualties.
