Robby Shelby
Class of 1988 – Assistant Athletic Director, Coach
● 26 years serving Spartan Athletics as Assistant Athletic Director
● Served as Equipment Manager and Special Teams Assistant Coach for Spartan Football
during 2011 & 2012 Northwestern 3A/4A Conference Championship teams.

Virginia LaCombe
Class of 1998 – Track & Field, Cross Country
● 1998 3A State Champion – High Jump
● Indoor State Champion – Triple Jump (1997–98)
● 3X Western Regional Champion
● Conference Athlete of the Year in Track & Field
● Still holds SCHS records in HJ, TJ, LJ, 300H
● All-American High Jumper at Western Carolina University (2002)
● SoCon Field Event Athlete of the Year (2002)
● WCU school record holder – High Jump (6’0”)

Brent Tomberlin
Class of 1988 – Swimming (Athlete & Coach)
● 3-year swimming letterwinner
● Helped lead team to first men's conference championship
● Named Most Valuable Swimmer as a senior
● 4-year swimmer at UNC Charlotte
● Coached SCHS Swim teams for 28 years
● 8 Conference Championships (including 1st women’s title)
● Coached 2 Individual State Champions
● 15-time Conference Coach of the Year

Anthony Glass
Class of 1984 – Football, Track & Field, Strength Coach

● Starred in football and track at SCHS
● Played football at Lees-McRae College
● One of the nation's top strength & conditioning coaches
● Career includes roles at Georgia, Ohio State, Boston College, App State & more
● Trained over 75 First-Team All-Americans across 19 sports
● Contributed to 10 National Championship teams and 40+ conference titles
● Inducted into Caldwell County Sports Hall of Fame (2021)

Heather Pritchard
Class of 2004 – Softball, Basketball
● 2-time Caldwell County Softball Player of the Year (2003, 2004)
● 4X All-County, 3X All-Conference, All-State (2004)
● 1,000-point scorer in basketball; 3X All-County
● Played softball at Western Carolina University
● 2006 Southern Conference Champion & 1st-Team All-SoCon
● Multiple academic honors including SoCon Honor Roll

Glenn Hicks
Class of 1997 – Track & Field, Football
● 4-year letterwinner in football and track

● 1997 NCHSAA 3A State Champion – 300M Hurdles
● 4X Conference Champion in 300M Hurdles
● Continued track career at Appalachian State University
